The History of TreeGivers

Thank you for all you are doing to make this planet a little greener.
- Rob Pearson

2001 THROUGH TODAY!

While founder Leslie Dreier was enjoying one of his invigorating hikes in the spectacular White Mountains located in Northern New Hampshire, he mentioned to his fellow hiker he was considering selling his interest in TreeGivers. This intrigued Rob Pearson so much within four months after that initial comment, he was the proud owner of TreeGivers and Lofty Oaks Association.

Since purchasing the company in 2001, Rob has tried to cultivate a socially responsible, employee driven, ULTIMATE GREEN company. We do our best to buy post consumer recycled products, reduced the quantity of paper purchased by more than 30%, and even recycle the beverage containers we use at the office.

Still located in Littleton, NH, TreeGivers is proud to be a sponsor of numerous charitable organizations throughout the US and Internationally. These include environmentally conscious tree planting organizations, military service groups, theatre and health related groups.

In 2010 other members of his family are beginning to get more involved in this family owned company and it is hoped that with continued success the company will provide tree plantings throughout the world in the years to come.

The History of TreeGivers

1981-2001: The First 20 Years

Plant a living legacy

Continue to Grow and Last a Lifetime

In a town in northern New England a small group was gathered for a memorial service for a family member. It was suggested that a tree should be planted as a living memorial for the deceased.

That is how it started in 1981. Known as Lofty Oaks Association, the company grew rapidly representing the funeral industry nationwide. Shortly more and more companies and individuals alike were asking to have trees planted on their behalf for special occasions.

That is when the founders, Leslie Dreier and Bruce Hadlock started TreeGivers. TreeGivers was developed for a new market of businesses and for the public consumer. With steady growth it wasn't long before they out grew their location and needed larger accommodations. They found the answer in a century old farmhouse. In keeping with their conservation initiatives, Bruce and Leslie carefully preserved the exterior of the 100-year-old farmhouse much like the original. The interior was updated to contain the newest in processing equipment, while still maintaining some old New England charm including the original working fireplace.

Until 2001, that restored farmhouse contained the corporate offices and the dedicated staff of both TreeGivers and Lofty Oaks Association. We have planted hundreds of thousands of young trees on public lands in all 50 states of the United States and in the International Tree Planting countries as part of their reforestation programs. Since we began our program in 1981, we have always endeavored to find youth groups to be involved in the plantings. We have enlisted Scout groups and 4-H Clubs from all over the country in this effort. Naturally, experienced nurserymen or national foresters guide them in the planting. In other states, the trees are planted by professionals with special consideration concerning the species and best growing locations.

We take pride in knowing that we have helped to create memories for the lost of loved ones and also for the excitement of others celebrating special occasions each year. These special events also have benefited the environment for all of us. We are all becoming more aware of the importance of a single tree. It can one day protect our wildlife, our soil, and the quality of the air we breathe. Each time a TreeGivers tree is planted it brings life and beauty to the countryside and in a distinctive way, it honors that special person for that special occasion.

It is with this result, that TreeGivers will continue to grow and provide individual personal service and develop quality products, for you our most valued customers and the environment our most valued resource.

Memorial Trees provide the continuing gift of protection to our earth, a living, growing legacy benefiting the environment for years to come.
