Our Company's History

The Early Years

(1981-2000)

At a funeral service in northern New Hampshire in 1981,

those present suggested that a young tree should be planted on public lands in memory of the deceased.

Surprised at the absence of any such service, co-founders Leslie Dreier & Bruce Hadlock started Lofty Oaks Association
in Littleton, NH to address the need.

Working with hundreds of funeral homes throughout the United States, Lofty Oaks continues to this day as a valuable partner in the funeral services industry as our sister organization.  Working with funeral home members, tree planters and conservation groups nationwide, Lofty Oaks established the tree planting network in place today.

As more & more memorial tree requests from the local area started coming in throughout the early 1990's, Leslie & Bruce launched TreeGivers.com in December of 1996 as the original memorial tree planting service.  If you want to check out our early website iterations, head over to the Wayback Machine for a trip down memory lane!

New Ownership & New Direction

Rob Pearson, President of TreeGivers

Video introduction recorded in June 2013

While co-founder Leslie Dreier was enjoying an invigorating hike in the spectacular White Mountains of northern New Hampshire, he mentioned he was considering selling his interest in the company.  This intrigued fellow-hiker Rob Pearson so much within four months, he was the proud owner of both Lofty Oaks and TreeGivers.

Since purchasing the company in 2001, Rob has continued to cultivate a socially responsible, family-driven, and ultimately green company.  Buying post-consumer recycled paper products, significantly reducing the quantity of paper inventory, and even implementing recycling programs in all facets of the business, our company is proudly carbon neutral.

The Pearson Family in 2018
L-R: Emily, Nate, Rob & Kim (and grandkids!)

With the "Northern Pearson's" welcoming new members to our growing family (namely grandchildren!), Kim & Rob Pearson decided to pack up the New Hampshire offices and relocate the order fulfillment operations of both TreeGivers and Lofty Oaks to Denton, Texas.

As a small town in North Texas with two excellent Universities, our newly-adopted home became the perfect home office for our green business to continue growing in its third decade.  Our unwavering commitment to the beloved forests of the United States and Canada continues to this day as our business remains headquartered in New Hampshire.

With an eye to the future for our thousands of TreeGivers - many of whom continue to return year after year - the Pearson Family wishes you a heartfelt "Thank You!" for all you have done (and surely will continue to do) for our environment in honor of your loved ones.

We hope you enjoy this newly designed website and mobile experience, including new gift ideas, payment options, and security features!

With gratitude, from our family to yours...

The Pearson Family
